New in 2023

By Barry Rudesill
Last week, I talked about where we’ve been and what’s happened with The Trek in 2022. This time, I want to talk about where we’re heading! And since I have a lot of ground to cover, let’s get moving!

First, I just want to restate that we’re finishing The Bridge Facilitator Guide in the next week or so. To all of our current Facilitators, that should automatically appear in your accounts as each piece is uploaded. (We’re talking about possibly hosting an online training event at some point this Spring, so keep watching the posts!)

Next, we are working on updating the Student Edition. We’re going to fix a couple of misspoken words in the videos, and then we will have newly-updated Facilitator Guides for both the Student Edition and The Bridge for Students. We’re hoping to have the new material released by the end of March. That means that we will have the option of training people to facilitate just the Student Edition!

On a different note, The Trek has officially published it’s first book. While teaching this past summer, I (Barry) had the opportunity to work with a young lady who knew nothing about Jesus. To help her to understand who Jesus is, I wrote a book called Introducing Jesus! A Newcomer’s Guide To Jesus Christ. Currently, you can buy the paperback at Amazon.com, and you can get the digital version on Amazon Kindle and Google Play. (We are also working to get it listed on Barnes and Noble and another publisher, as well.) Be sure to stop over to The Bridge Facebook page for more on this story and some direct links to the books!

Last year, we began a number of upgrades to our server. This year, we’re hoping to give The Trek website a complete overhaul. New tabs, new pages, and easier access to updated information. This is going to be done (hopefully) over the Summer months!

Next, like I mentioned last time, I am SO excited about the opportunity to lead a Trek class in a medium-security prison! The drawback? I only get one day! If the confirmation comes and I get to lead the program, I’ll let you know!

Also, like I mentioned last time, we’ve entered into talks with people in the state of Iowa to see about getting The Trek into their prisons. (They were also talking about using it with at-risk students, drug-and-alcohol rehabilitation, etc.) The state congressmen who set up this meeting said to me, “Hey! We see the value in this for our people. You should talk to your legislators in Wisconsin, too!” Because of that, in 2023, we’re going to talk to our legislators and see if there would be any interest in using The Trek in prisons and/or schools throughout Wisconsin, as well.

Finally, we’ve had a number of people ask us about doing Trek by Zoom class. Maria and I are still trying to figure out the logistics, but if you’re interested, please let us know. We’re also looking at running some “refresher courses”. You would pick a topic or two, sign up for the program, and meet directly with us. Again, if you think this would be of value, let us know.

Okay, there ARE some other “irons in the fire”, but that should get you up to speed for now! Thank you to every one of you who helps us to serve others. Thank you to our participants! Thank you to our Facilitators! Thank you to our numerous proofreaders! (All current typos are our fault, not theirs!) And thank you to those of you who have joined us on this journey! You are very much appreciated!
