Trek 2.0!

By Barry Rudesill

From all of us here at The Trek, we just wanted to share with you some exciting news! The Trek 2.0 is officially fully online! Based on feedback from literally hundreds of participants, with over four years in the research and writing, and just shy of two years in the filming and production...and it’s done!

Well...sort of… (But we’ll get to that more in a minute!)

If you’re taking Trek 2.0, there are 26 Main Classes, plus an “Introduction” (Session 00) and a final message called “The Journey Home” (Session 27). That means, in total, there are 28 videos in the entire series! Each with an updated manual and, for those of you who are teaching, an updated Facilitator’s Guide!

Well...there’s sort of 28… (But we’ll get to that more in a minute!)

Finally, there is an entirely new Bridge 2.0 series that lines up with The Trek! This is all-new, is designed to fit more closely with The Trek classes, and also features its own workbooks! All 28 are done and uploaded!

Well...there’s sort of 28 here, too… (But we’ll get to that more in a minute!)

Okay, let me explain the “sort of” statements! But, to do that, let me explain it in two parts:

First, when we wrote the original Trek, we had a class called “Self-Image”. When we mapped out Trek 2.0, “Self-Image” ended up on the cutting floor. It’s not because we don’t think it’s a good class – it is! – but it’s because we needed space and much of the material from “Self-Image” is covered in other classes. And I was, I admit it, a bit bummed out about leaving it behind…

The second part of this explanation is something we planned new for Trek 2.0. We read constantly, we have outlines and ideas for a dozen more classes, and we occasionally run into materials that we would like to share with you to help you on your journey. In the original series, the best we could do was post these on social media.

But, in Trek 2.0, we decided to add “Scenic Overlooks”. These would be short videos and/or workbook add-ons to the Main Classes that would supplement the information. Our goal isn’t to re-film the main series; it’s to add on to it! And that’s what these Scenic Overlooks do: they allow us to add on to The Trek without the need to recreate the entire thing!

Now these aren’t slated to start until Fall, at the earliest. But, we couldn’t resist getting a little jump start on the process…and film “Self-Image”! We filmed the class, updated the workbooks, wrote a stand-alone Facilitator Guide, filmed a Bridge class, and added the Bridge workbook, as well! Why? Well, mostly because I really wanted to save that class...

So, while there are “officially” 28 classes in the new series, there’s a 29th video thrown in as a bonus. Also, while The Trek is “officially” done, we’ll be posting updates as we can! (At this point, I think we have somewhere around 30 slated, ranging from simply some additional stories to some pretty interesting new ways of understanding/viewing the content!)

Trek 2.0 will be an ongoing work-in-progress, so thank you for joining us! Also, thanks to all of you who provided input, opinions, revisions, and suggestions! We love and appreciate all of you!

We sincerely hope you enjoy the new Trek 2.0 and we hope you enjoy your journey!
