New Year, New Trek, New You

By Barry Rudesill

To all of our Trekkers,

The Trek started at a conference in 2011 when I was able to speak on the importance of "Forgiveness".  My wife, Maria, looked at me and said, "You're on a little 'trek' right now, aren't you?"  She then gave me a spiffy logo to put on my presentation and The Trek was born.  After completing the speech, I had a woman come up to speak to me and she told me how she worked with survivors of rape and how they needed to hear about how to forgive.  We gave her our initial copy of the curriculum and realized that The Trek could help people that we would never meet!

After that time, we brought together a team to form Trek Productions, LLC. and launched our website.  Since then, we've had over 250 people join us on the journey; some from as far away as Ireland!  (We're currently trying to find a way to stream The Trek to Puerto Rico, too!)  Trekkers like you come from all walks of life, backgrounds and belief systems.  This year, 2015, has been the biggest year ever and we are thankful for each and every one of you.

Why am I telling you where we came from?  Because now I want to tell you where the Trek is going!  In 2016, we have a lot of changes to announce.  First of all, Michael Jewell, one of the partners, has requested to go out on his own.  While we are sad to see him go, we wish him well in his new ventures.  That's the sad news.

The good news is that 2016 should bring a number of significant changes to The Trek!  We've been listening to your feedback and we have been working on The Trek 2.0.  This will be the same Standard Edition, with a number of suggestions and changes made by you!  We also have a couple of new classes coming to the 2.0 series, new workbook pages, new Bridge materials and more!  Look for it around Fall of 2016.

We are also in the process of developing a Trek outreach to the military.  While we've just begun the process, we have hopes to have the new series online within the next two years.  If you'd like to get involved with the process of developing this new series, contact barry@thetrek.org and put "Military" in the subject line.

Finally, we are going to make some changes to our website to make it more user-friendly.  We will also be using Facebook and Twitter more often; creating blog posts every month; and giving you, our Trekkers, a safe place to ask questions, get feedback and continue on your journey.  We are also updating our training programs for any groups that are providing Facilitators for their clients.

Why all the changes?  Because at the end of the day, it's about you!  Our goal is to help you become the best "you" you can be and to make sure that you know that there are people here who want to walk beside you in this journey we call life.

Thank you for allowing us to join you on your journey so far!  You are very special and we just want you to know you are appreciated, important and loved.  We hope to see you in 2016!

Sincerely

Barry and Maria Rudesill
